RINSE RIOT
People value clean and safe produce, yet current washing methods are inconvenient, inconsistent, and often ineffective. Rinse Riot is a compact countertop appliance designed to solve that problem by reimagining how we clean fruits and vegetables. Powered by natural pod-based ingredients like vinegar and baking soda, it safely and effortlessly removes dirt and pesticides.
Designed for simplicity, it transforms a frustrating, time-consuming chore into a calm, modern experience while showcasing product design skills.
MY WHY
THE How Might We
With limited time for deep research, I focused on understanding the core problem: many produce items carry residue, and natural cleaning methods can be effective but inconvenient. This led to my central design question: How might we simplify the produce cleaning process so that people feel confident in what they eat?
-
Research began with fruits and vegetables that are most commonly exposed to pesticide residues. These include strawberries, spinach, grapes, and apples.
-
Studies show that baking soda and vinegar are powerful and safe agents for removing bacteria and pesticides.
PROCESS
With a clear design question in place, I moved into rapid ideation and exploration to understand how this concept could come to life.
